• 3,500 acres allotted to lakes, preserves, and parks, Lakewood Ranch boasts no shortage of parks and outdoor activities to do. My personal favorite is Greenbrook Adventure Park. With its large fields for soccer or football, shaded playground, enclosed inline skating court and paw park, there’s a little bit of outside for everyone.

• Established in 1991 as the first official development in Lakewood Ranch, the Sarasota Polo Club has an incredible history filled with stories of timber, cowboys, cold Milwaukee beer, and chewing gum. In 1922 the Uihlein family, founders of Schlitz Brewing Company, acquired a 28,000-acre timber ranch in Sarasota. Originally the cowboys who worked on our ranch began playing knock-around polo games in their free time. The ranch hands rode with stock saddles using make-shift equipment, knowing very little about polo, they played by their own rules. Today the Sarasota Polo Club is a premier luxury sporting destination located on 130 perfectly manicured acres, including 45 private equestrian estates, 7 Bermuda grass fields, a half-mile horse track, boarding facilities for 72 horses, a Player’s Clubhouse and a Polo Pavilion.

• Celebrate arts and culture in Lakewood Ranch with our local events showcasing artists, music, film and performing arts. In February you can see a sampling of performances from the local arts organizations. The Players Centre is hosting an array of events, including a children’s program; STAR, Storytelling Theatre at the Ranch. 

• The first Fridays of each month, from 6pm - 9pm, feature Music On Main, on Lakewood Main Street in Lakewood Ranch, FL. live music, local food, shopping, and drinks. This family-friendly block party leaves little more to be desired. Kids can enjoy easy snacks, rides, dog watching, and dancing to the music. It’s also a great opportunity to chat up the locals for more insider tips.
